Last night, Olive, Wayne and I got to witness mum in her element and LOVED IT! Mum had an event to decorate and she KILLED IT! We are so proud of you mum! The event was Jamaican themed and also had to be a bit elegant, she’s been explaining her ideas to us over the past week and a half and even though we thought they were good ideas, I don’t think we could quite envision them the way she had, so when we saw them come to life last night we were blown away with the results. Ellen’s events (or so were calling it for now) is finally in business!!! #WatchThisSpace
I was photographing what mum had done so that we can create a portfolio for her and of course Olive & Wayne came along too, they were there for support as mum was feeling a bit nervous! Olive loves reggae so she was in her element, every once in a while between shots I would stop and have a dance with her as Wayne was all over the place checking out mum’s decor, tasting a jamaican coloured shot or 2, to give mum feedback of course 😉
A special moment for me last night was when Uncle Carey came and took Olive for a little bit, he was so amazed with her which reminded me of my childhood with him. He was reminding me of how I never wanted to let go of him, no one could take me away from him! When my mum suggested that I take Olive back to the room for a bit while we wait for her to finish up at the event, he replied “Take WHO away? NO, she’s staying with me, YOU can go” then took her for a walk around the event. That made me really happy.
It’s always such an amazing feeling knowing how loved O is, and no matter what happens to Wayne & I, O will always have a home to go to and be loved in, whether it’s with direct family or not!
Olive has began smiling, (smiling because she’s happy, not neonatal smiling) and it’s about the cutest thing in the world!!!!! On saturday I ran into a family friend of ours that I have not seen in a while, Marcus Ngugi, and let me tell you, my little girl could not wipe her very gummy grin off her face, I could have sworn she was flirting! She even had my my sister a.k.a Le godmother catching feelings, demanding Olive (a nearly 7 week old) to explain herself talking about “why don’t you smile like that at me??!!!”. It’s funny what a baby can do to people, have them acting so out of character. For my giggly baby girl and Marcus, it looks like it’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship. As for the jealous auntie and Marcus, well, you just better watch your back there M.
Look at my family acting all happy lovey dovey rolling about the grass around my baby girl. What you don’t know is that these pictures were not taken in the privacy and comfort of my own garden, but actually smack bang in the middle of the Muthaiga country club quad. A realisation that occurred to my dad as he quickly leapt to his feet, explaining “i’ve had a drink or 2” as he greeted a good old friend of his fathers that was strolling on by. But even so, we soon again dismissed all formalities, falling to the ground giggling about like my little chirpy baby Olive. I’ll say it again, its funny how babies have this way of bringing people out of character.
So, I caught this moment the other day when we were having lunch at Muthaiga country club, my parents look like they are back together and have had another child, it was so beautiful to watch as they sat together laughing, talking and kissing baby O. Olive being cheeky :p
Last night my dad a.k.a Grand (He would like to be known as Grand or Bond) came over around 9 to drop off some Kikuyu porridge that apparently helps with the production of breast milk. We then went for a night drive to help Olive sleep (rough poop night), like he used to do with me, and just like he said, she fell asleep very quickly as we cruised around my neighbourhood to tunes playing on the radio.
I found this so precious, it was such a wonderful feeling to do that with my dad.
Ducky, or so I’ve temporarily named him till Olive picks out her own name, watches over Olive wherever she sleeps. He used to be Wayne’s stuffed animal when he was a baby, I just find it so precious that it’s hers now😊
MY MILK IS BACK!!! WOOHHOOO!!!Never thought I’d be this HAPPY to have milk stains all over my shirt. I’ve even just squirted all over Olives face and the bed. I have to start wearing breast pads agan, never thought I’d be excited about that either! Big thanks to all of you who gave me advice on how to get my milk flow back, it all really helped.
